„Die jungen Wilden“ ist so eine Floskel in der Politik. Für Leute aus der CDU, die cool sein wollen. Mit sowas will man als Noise-Rock-Band aus Kentucky nichts zu tun haben. „Die jungen Witwen“ hört sich viel besser an. Und dann auch noch auf Englisch. «Young Widows» kommen frisch von der Beerdigung. Und spielen euch das Lied vom Tod.

Es könnte laut werden. Was bei einer Noise-Rock-Gruppe nicht überraschend ist. Aber bedrohlich und geheimnisvoll sind sie auch noch, die drei Typen aus Louisville, Kentucky. In ihren Sound-Gewittern kann man sich verlieren, so fett und satt und vibrierend sind ihre Songs. Vier Studio-Alben und sieben EP’s hat das Trio mit einem Mix aus Grunge, Noise und Post Punk produziert. Gründung der Band war 2006. Ihr drittes Album In und Out of Youth und Lightness kam 2011 raus, bei Temporary Residence. Da ließen sie plötzlich etwas leisere Töne anklingen.
Easy Pain
Ihr Sound hat sich verändert. Das war kurz vor ihrer Gründung schon einmal der Fall. Damals nannten sie sich noch Breather Resist, eine Mathcore-Gruppe. Als der Sänger die künftigen Witwen verließ, übernahmen der Gitarrist Evan Patterson und Bassist Nick Thieneman auch den Gesang. Die Folge war, dass sich ihr Sound erheblich veränderte. Die Geburtsstunde der Young Widows. Ihr viertes Studioalbum kam 2014 raus. «Easy Pain», wieder beim Label Temporary Residence. Leichtigkeit und Schmerz – wer wünscht sich nicht manchmal beides. Support gibt’s an dem Abend von «Heads», das Post-Punk-Trio kommt aus Berlin. Zwei Deutsche und ein Australier stehen seit 2014 zusammen auf der Bühne.

The band was founded in 2006. Their third album In and Out of Youth and Lightness came out in 2011, at Temporary Residence. Suddenly they let something quieter sound. Her sound has changed. When the singer left the widows, guitarist Evan Patterson and bassist Nick Thieneman also took over the vocals. The result was that their sound changed. The birth of the young widows.
