INTERFILM 42 Begins with a format that is supposed to make people curious about short films. At the Festival opening The joint start of a film week, which brings together different cinematic styles, is at the center. After all, a short film does not have to take an evening-long approach to trigger something.

The international competition includes eight programs with 47 films from 41 countries. In addition, there is a German competition and the environmental film competition, among others. The range thus goes beyond a mere collection of short stories: different perspectives, forms and themes relate to each other.

The festival opening is an opportunity to immerse yourself in this diversity. Those who usually choose based on well-known names or familiar genres can look a little further here. It becomes interesting where a film finds its own tone in a few minutes and the next one starts completely differently again. Not all cinema necessarily needs a lot of runtime.
