Aeroplanes in Your Ear. | Interview with “Calmdown”

An island in Greece: that’s her home. Ten years ago, Elisa Vidalis moved to Berlin. One day, she started calling herself “Calmdown” and began releasing ethereal electro-pop. [030] spoke with her. Find out more in the video.
Tinos to Berlin
From the party island to the party capital. Elisa Vidalis left her home of Tinos, Greece, behind and sought a new life. In Berlin, she became “Calmdown”, a songwriter working in electropop. She has already attracted attention: the video for her song “All is pretty in Berlin” was nominated for the “Listen To Berlin Award” from the state of Berlin. [030] took a short stroll with Elisa around the block in Prenzlauer Berg, chatting about her music. More about that in the video.

Like an Aeroplane
In February 2018, her album “Calmdown Airlines” was released—her fourth. The album features eight tracks, including the lovely “Enjoy Life”, which lifts you, aeroplane-like, onto an electronic sound journey through higher spheres. Elisa loves to experiment, despite her classical training. She tries out her own sounds, mixes and arranges. Ultimately, it’s all about artistic honesty for her. How honest can art be if it measures itself by success? Listen for yourself.
